NEWS
DEEP SPACE NIGHT AT HUBBARDTON

Hubbardton, VT—The stars will be coming out for this program—the annual “Star Light, Star Bright Star Night” astronomy observation at the Hubbardton Battlefield State Historic Site on Saturday, August 30, from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. for a special astronomy program.  Members of the Green Mountain Astronomers will be on hand with their telescopes and knowledge will focus on the planets and other deep space objects.  Look for constellations, planets, satellites, and of course the stars.   Bring telescopes, binoculars, blankets, and flashlights.  We’ll provide the marshmallows.  The Hubbardton Battlefield, with its sweeping mountain views and no modern light pollution, is the perfect spot to observe the night sky.

The program is free and open to the public.  Donations are appreciated.  If skies are cloudy, the event will be held on Sunday, August 31.  Call ahead, at 802-273-2282, to confirm the program is on.

The battlefield is the site of the only Revolutionary War battle fought in Vermont.  It is located in Hubbardton on Monument Hill Road, seven miles north of US Route 4 from Castleton or six miles east of VT Route 30 in Hubbardton.  The site is regularly open Thursday through Sunday and Monday holidays through to Columbus Day, October 13.
